In the Gospel of Mark there were multiple sayings and words that describe Jesus. From the Gospel of Mark, I understood that Jesus was a man due to the fact that he was flesh and blood but he also had attributes that set him apart from others. As concerning the Word of life, Luke 10 section says: On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.
Then come, follow me. Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?
And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. In Old Testament, the Jewish people and their ancestors were given the Law to observe.
First, What Adam and Eve should observe was that they could not eat the fruits from the tree of wisdom. Then, their son Cain was told that he should not kill. As sins became increased, the laws were also added more. We know that the Law is good and the Law is used to punish people who commit sins, but people cannot obey the Law because the sinful spirits are in people. Even that we know stealing and giving false testimony are sinful, but greedy and pride spirits in us drive us to do sinful things.

Mark also started the first missionary journey with Paul and Barnabas but went home early, though he later traveled with Barnabas to Cyprus for more mission work. He became significant in the life of Paul, being one of the last people the apostle mentioned in his final letter 2 Timothy Also, the gospel has a distinctly Roman feel to it, particularly when compared with the Jewish emphasis of the book of Matthew. Mark chose to leave aside most comments on fulfilled prophecy compare Matthew —6 and Mark —4 , and when he felt compelled to use an Aramaic term, he interpreted it Mark In these passages, Mark revealed more than Jesus as the good teacher who offered people spiritual renewal; the book also portrays Jesus as the true God and the true man, reaching into the lives of people and effecting physical and circumstantial change.
He is the mighty Messiah and Son of God! By appointing twelve apostles, representing the restored tribes of Israel Mark , Jesus acts with the authority of God himself, who first called Israel into existence. Be still! Even the wind and the waves obey him! More and even greater miracles follow. Twice he feeds thousands of people with a few loaves of bread and fish Mark , — Jesus takes his disciples north of Galilee to Caesarea Philippi for a time away from the crowds.
Who do you say I am? But in a shocking twist, Jesus defines the role of the Messiah as one of suffering and death Mark Peter is shocked at this defeatist attitude and rebukes Jesus. Though Peter is right that Jesus is the mighty Messiah and Son of God, he cannot fathom the suffering role of the Messiah. Yet without his suffering and death, the salvation of humankind will not be accomplished.
From this episode onward the focus is on the cross. Three times in the next three chapters Jesus predicts his suffering and death Mark , , In chapter 11, Jesus enters Jerusalem riding into the city on a donkey in fulfillment of Zechariah Prior to this, Jesus has intentionally kept a lid on his identity as the Messiah. Jesus silences demons when they try to identify him Mark , , , ; he commands those who are healed not to tell anyone about it Mark , , , ; and he warns his disciples not to disclose that he is the Messiah Mark , Why the secret?
The inclination of the people would be to make Jesus king on their terms. In response, Jesus tamps down messianic expectations in order to define the true suffering role of the Messiah.
He is here to conquer much greater foes than the Roman legions. All of his disciples abandon him. While Jesus stands trial, outside in the courtyard Peter—the leader among the disciples who claimed absolute loyalty Mark , —three times denies him. Jesus dies on the cross in darkness, rejected by his own nation, mocked by bystanders, and abandoned by his closest followers.
Yet for those with eyes of faith, this is no tragedy. Victory comes through sacrifice, suffering, death, and resurrection. They are shocked to discover that the stone is rolled away and the tomb is empty. An angel announces that Jesus has risen from the dead! Yet the women are bewildered and leave the tomb in fear and silence Mark —8.
There are no resurrection appearances described. Later copyists were clearly disturbed by this ending and added a longer one, which summarizes a series of resurrection appearances.
This longer ending appears in our Bibles today, though most versions mark it off with footnotes stating that it is not in our earliest and best manuscripts. Before attempting to answer this question, several clarifications are in order.
First, it is not true that there is no resurrection in Mark. Jesus has repeatedly predicted the resurrection Mark , , , , and told his disciples that they would see him again in Galilee Mark The angel, who is also an absolutely reliable character, also announces the resurrection and the resurrection appearance in Galilee Mark ,
