Tiers are class restricted. I have done a lot of mog runs on my druid and I have several pieces of rogue and monk parts to actuall sets unlocked.
The way it works as I understood is there are pretty much several pieces that can unlock the mog look. For example one is always class restricted so you could as a druid get a chest piece that only Monk can equipp, that will not unlock the look. Then there is another chestpiece that drops that looks the same, has no class restriction and can unlock the set piece mog. With the upcoming changes to the PvP system, will old PvP gear be available to buy for transmogrification purposes?
If so, will the required currency become gold instead of honour or conquest points? Let's say I loot an item that is BoE that is my armour type. Does it get added to my wardrobe simply because I have acquired it in my inventory, or must I equip it first? Essentially, must gear items that are found in the world outside of questing be equipped in order to be added to the wardrobe? Will it be able to enter the new transmog system even though it is no longer obtainable? Comment by Webminky Thank you for doing this.
Are you able to clarify; I have a ton of soul-bound gear, on multiple characters. Assume I have a mage and a lock. I have a soul-bound cloth item on mage, it is added to wardrobe.
Would my warlock have access to it as well assuming it was just cloth and not mage only? In a nutshell, I farm for a pair of boots that I like, do I have to do it twice, one for each cloth wearer. Again, thank you for the effort :. Comment by Bjerkie I'm a little confused regarding tier items. For an easy example: The Helm of Might tier 2 drops for my warrior.
Can I now only use that appearance for my warriors? But if I get the heirloom look-a-like I can transmog it to all my plate-wearers? What I'm basically asking is: Does it unlock the appearance to everyone if the item already has a look-a-like in-game? Comment by seriousandu how about this quest? It sounds like it won't get added to my wardrobe, right? I'll have to go and run it on my pally and hope that I manage to get the same drop Comment by Eilonthay Who else was disappointed that white and gray items weren't going to be included?
Certainly myself. I was finally hoping that the dapper worgen top hat from their starting zone was finally going to be put to some use At least the starter robe for night elf mages has an equivalent green item. They're already doing so much coding for everything else I would think it would just be that much more stuff that people wouldn't have to keep in their bags.
As excited as I am that they're changing the transmog system so that it's basically a "spellbook" of appearances, I'm not looking forward to going back and dragging a clothie through for the Old World Loremaster. I'm hoping having a hunter with all the expansion Loremasters, plus the Old World Loremaster, will have scooped up most of the transmog weaponry and mail Things to do between LFR and dungeons, I guess.
At least the druid's been pulling her weight on the leather and quested like a fiend from day one. Can't say the same for my plate and cloth wearing minions. Comment by Higaburger Great, so all those items I sold because I ran out of bag space or whatever the case was I will have to loot all over again Comment by atata Guys, i dont understand.
What about old pvp-gear? If old honor-system will be changed, how i can get sets for tmog, t15, for exp. Comment by tale Several people seem to have questions about the soulboundness of items, so could that be added to the article proper?
The comments where it has been asked have consistently had the same answers -- that to be unlocked for transmog the original item has to not only be soulbound but also useable -- so it'd be good to have that up top in the official article.
Comment by I read somewhere that we need to Achieve all of the Loremaster achievements to unlock the wardrobes for Legion Is this still true? If so This way probably all weapon types are covered, especially with the warrior.
Comment by SJPadbury Here's what I'm curious about: So we're getting given all the quest reward gear for previously completed quests, if we can equip it. Does that include the "hidden" quests that complete when we kill a Vignette mob in Warlords, that prevent up from re-obtaining the drop after the fact? In other words, if I've obtained Smashalupagus from killing Stompalupagus , and have sold it, will it show up in my Transmog or not?
Comment by africanleopard So Will that mail gear go away, or will it remain and new gear for plate wearers be put into the old quests? I am just wondering if I need to do all those quests on my mail wearers to ensure I don't lose any Comment by Treekachu What about account-bound or battle. Will those be added to the wardrobe? Examples: Spear of Xuen , gear from archaeology? Replica Lion's Fang , items from promotions?
Shadowmoon Cowl , things purchasable with currencies other than gold in-game specifically for transmog? Hozen Warrior Spear , items looted in the world as treasure? How will that work? Comment by tiny hey, I just read the article and its great and very informative. I was wondering about the MoP challenge mode gear sets. Just making sure if my warrior gear I got for my Orc warrior will be available for my Tauren.
I saw and read about the class hall gear look alike, I just think the MoP one looks a bit better. Also this goes way back to classic, will the most epic axe be available? The Whirlewind Axe Whirlwind Axe.
Not the cheap recolors, but the classic one from the lvl 30 warrior berserker stance quest chain. As a rogue, I could buy and use swords, maces, axes, and daggers elite skins. Will my other toons be able to use them come Legion? Comment by frenchbassguy So is my Holy priest now essentially locked into only using staff appearances?
That would hurt my heart :. Comment by TurtleBlue With faction change, quests are reset so my question is : what happens to the quests related looks? Are they reset too? Do we still keep them? That being things like the lv 85 armor vendors from MoP? Also, I would like to know if you'll be able to transmog common items, yet? I've always loved the Blood Elf starting zone armor, and with the new shoulder hiding ability, that'd make for a pretty great transmog, honestly.
Comment by Darasin Three Questions: Will wardrobe items be available for both factions? As in, If I got a rare item from a dungeon on an Alliance character, would my Horde characters be able to transmog to it as well?
If yes, then: Will quest items for one side, such as Keeshan's Bow , be available in the wardrobe for members of the opposing faction? As in, if I played through and got the above item on an Alliance hunter, would I be able to transmog it to my Horde hunter? Also, will the Wardrobe system be realm wide? As in, if I had a character on the realm Perenolde who got a rare item from a dungeon and it was added to my wardrobe, would my character on the realm Illidan be able to use the same item for transmog?
For the love of Elune. Comment by Snowy6 How does it work with BoE item do I have to equip them for them to be added or just have them in my bags? Comment by hellfire02 Q - So is it account wide? A - Basically yes. However that is if the items were added to the wardrobe. If you are a Deathknight and found a wand, it means it did not get added to the wardrobe, so when you log on your Mage, it will not be available to you. However, if you have obtained a sword, then when you log on a Warrior, that sword is available in the wardrobe for you.
This is 5th question down. This answer makes NO sense. Is the 'obtained' sword put into this wardrobe? Comment by Darkness Not sure if this was asked but. I have a question about the transmog system in legion. Are you able to transmog your plate to look like cloth. As in the restrictions.. Since some classes can equip Leather, Cloth and Mail is it possible for Paladins to look like mages or Death Knights look like warlocks. Though a warrior has a better chance looking like a caster since they can use staves.
Comment by withkittens19 Lets say i transmog my armor to look like tier 2 if i equip a new piece of gear do i need to redo the xmog like it is now or does the slot stay tier 2 and also if i unlock a set and it has a lookalike for other toons of same armor type will it unlock the lookalike or do i need to farm them as well. Comment by Alkony I took advantage of the free server transfer when they opened up the Australian based servers. Tried out the PTR and had a lot fewer mogs show up than I expected.
Have we seen anything about the completed quest rewards being affected by server or faction transfers? Comment by linktoheaven I am kinda disappointed that outfits dont work like they do in SWTOR where you can lock your appearance to certain look and it wont change if you equip better gear but maybe one day. Comment by Yonny Hello, If this question had already been asked sorry 'bout that. What if i own an item on LIVE right at this moment and i sell it for money?
Will that item appear in the wardrobe or Narnia will punch me in the face and laugh like that? I have barely space in my inventory literally.
Comment by punkhair Idk if i overlooked this question or not, but what if i acquired an item from vanilla wow, and sold it in tbc and the item was later removed, will i still be able to transmog to that item or is it just gone forever? Comment by Anmaja One the one hand it's logical you won't collect all color variations of an item if you collect just one of the colors, on the other hand, some color options for raid gear will not be available any more if you're lv since raid finder for pandaria will be unavailable.
I hope if you get the 'heroic' or 'normal' color variants of raid gear, you'll unlock the 'raid finder' color too.. Comment by Anmaja I still have a lot of swords, polearms and daggers on my hunter from the time hunters also needed to equip melee weapons.. Will those looks be added to the wardrobe? I really hope so :. Comment by lzzgbt items already looted in the past and deleted will be part of the wardrobe or you need to loot it again?
Comment by Difdi Making holiday items exempt from transmog would seem to make those items utterly irrelevant. I'm unlikely to forego my chest armor to wear my holiday sweater, and I don't maintain a 'roleplay armor' set anymore. But if I could transmog my sweater onto my actual chest armor, I'd definitely 'wear' it during Winterveil. Comment by heidiwi I reviewed the questions and one that I do not see is what will happen to a saved transmog appearance from a quest if the character who completed the quest is deleted after the appearance has been recorded.
For example the Seryls Robes is available from a specific Worgen quest. If after 7. Also, sadly I nearly had Loremaster on a couple of toons before Cataclysm hit and I've done very little world questing since that time. I haven't seen anything specific to those but my best guess is those quest rewards will not be made available? Comment by Random One think i have heard nothing of is, Will items that we once had but no longer have be added to the wardrobe?
As in my defias leather chest and old items in general? Comment by xlolliqueenx I'm curious if you have to keep all those items in your bags still or if you're able to sell them off once they have been added to the Wardrobe? Or if you get an item, and you sell it off because it isn't upgrade for you, will it still be in your wardrobe list?
Or if you by lower level tier gear from vendor, just to have the transmog look, is there a time limit that you have to keep the item before you can sell it back? Or will it be a "learned" look item? Comment by Thready Once I collect an item is it safe to vendor it? Comment by Ozzayel Can you confirm that if I bought a piece of armor, put it on and then sold it, will that appearance be unlocked once the pre patch goes live?
Or do I need to hold onto it until the pre-patch to make sure it gets added. Comment by Esalyn here's a good'er OMG I want to use my staff again, but its on an old toon, not on my new main server. For example, an elite pvp set for warlock -- could I then make another warlock and have the appearance unlocked? Comment by guidman64 I can never understand why games limit people, or as I see it punishing their subscribers.
I don't see the harm in transmogging a lower level character with lvl 80 gear; I was really excited about this account bound bs til I read there are limitations. Also why do we have to pay to transmog still; is it really helping wow economy that much? Just seems like another limitation placed on subscribers. Third why do we have to go to the transmog vendor to transmog or to remove shoulder, head and cloak?
I am assuming that we have to pay gold to remove looks too. It is just another limitation that they don't need to place on subscribers, but do. Do the transmog vendors have little digital families that they need our gold to place digital food on the table? Blizzard needs to get with the times and realize that people enjoy conveniences as opposed to drudgery; many games are removing the things that companies like blizzard are did to make a game more difficult but in reality were just more annoying , blizz should too.
Comment by Random My question that I haven't seen answered - do we need to keep our bags, void storage and bank full once everything is in the wardrobe, or can we sell some of these items once they are in the database? I have a few toons where they are packed out to the gills and was wondering if I can make room for new gear.
With so many different classes you can get really creative with your outfits. Maybe you want to play up your animal side — the Rogue Nine-tailed set from Throne of Thunder has fox highlights that you could use to play up your animalistic side. Likewise, the Monk helm from Tomb of Sargeras is a snarling tiger that could be perfect for your next Feral set of gear.
Pieces from their Tomb of Sargeras sets are great for that — just look at how pointy these gloves are! Druids can do that too, but we can also match our looks to our combat forms! The red fur and bones of the bear form meshed really well with the overall Venthyr vampire aesthetic. Something that is that amazing looking really needs you to match the quality.
